'Taylor Swift will write a song about that': Kelce’s golf heroics go viral
Travis Kelce nearly holed his tee shot at the famous 16th hole in Arizona
Travis Kelce may be missing out on the Super Bowl for the first time in four years, but he is still finding ways to thrill a crowd.
The three-time champion took to the grass at TPC Scottsdale on Wednesday for the WM Phoenix Open pro-am, where he nearly aced the iconic par-3 16th hole.
After his ball landed just inches from the cup, the 36-year-old donned a celebratory gold chain and famously used his putter as an impromptu guitar.
The performance even prompted Eamon Lynch to joke: “I think Taylor Swift is going to write a song about that one.”
Kelce and Swift, who announced their engagement in August 2025, are no strangers to the fairway; Travis has long been a golf enthusiast and even landed a role in the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2.
Director Kyle Newacheck noted that Travis’s sporting background makes him a natural on screen, stating, “He's an athlete, so he knows the moment... He knows how to perform in the moment.”
However, the lighthearted fun comes at a crossroads for the Kansas City Chiefs legend. Following his team's early playoff exit in December, rumours regarding his retirement are swirling.
Addressing his future on 4 January, Travis remained thoughtful about his next steps. “I've got so much love for this team... I’ll spend some time with them... and get close to the family and figure things out,” he told reporters. For now, whether on the pitch or the green, Kelce remains a master of the big moment.
