'The End of It' marks first feature film directed by Maria Martínez Bayona
The End of It marks the first feature film directed by Maria Martínez Bayona, who also wrote the screenplay.
The storyline is set in a near-future where aging can be reversed, and death is a choice.
Claire (Rebecca Hall), a once-daring artist nearing her 250th birthday, makes a surprising decision to die. Her choice creates tension with her husband (Gael García Bernal), daughter (Noomi Rapace), and AI assistant (Beanie Feldstein), illustrating the intricate humor of their relationships.
As Claire embraces her own end to return to her artistic roots, she must confront the essence of life, death, and the chaotic wonder of existence.
The End Of It is produced by Emilie Jouffroy and Kamilla Kristiane Hodøl for Elation Pictures (The Damned), and Adrià Monés Murlans for Fasten Films (Inside The Yellow Cocoon Shell).
Dyveke Bjørkly Graver and Andrea Berentsen Ottmar are co-producers for Eye Eye Pictures (Sentimental Values). The project received support from BBC Film and iFeatures during development.
Executive producers include JC Acosta and Erika Kennair from The Mediapro Studio, Claudia Yusef and Alice Ojha for BBC Film, along with Ford Corbet, Nathan Klingher, and Apur Parikh from Barreling Wave Pictures.
Bankside Films is in charge of international sales, except for Latin America, which is directly managed by The Mediapro Studio.
