Chappell Roan’s makeup team reveals how she pulled Off her bold Grammys look
The singer's makeup artist Sasha Glasser, is revealing the tricks behind the jaw-dropping illusion
Chappell Roan turned heads at the 2026 Grammys with a daring sheer Mugler gown that appeared nearly topless complete with faux nipple piercings. Now, her makeup artist, Sasha Glasser, is revealing the tricks behind the jaw-dropping illusion.
In an interview with Allure, Glasser explained that the look relied on silicone prosthetic nipple covers, Telesis medical-grade adhesive, and a creative mix of mesh fabric and, surprisingly, gum wrappers.
“The idea was for her to not be so naked,” Glasser said. She reinforced the delicate prosthetics with power mesh and used gum wrappers to protect the jewelry while painting the prosthetics to match Roan’s skin perfectly.
“The process shows that good prosthetics are essential, but it’s also a testament to our skills that we’ve worked so long on perfecting,” Glasser added.
Roan’s trompe l’oeil gown, inspired by Thierry Mugler’s 1998 couture collection, featured a sheer burgundy overlay flowing from the faux piercings to the floor, paired with a matching cape.
Styled by Genesis Webb and accessorized with Buccellati jewelry, the singer completed her audacious red carpet moment.
The 27-year-old Grammy winner later addressed the attention her look received, telling fans on Instagram that she found the outfit fun and playful.
“Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit,” Roan wrote. “The look’s actually so awesome and weird… I recommend just exercising your free will—it’s really fun and silly :D”
