Nick Jonas took to the stage of The Tonight Show on Wednesday, to showcase a vulnerable side that fans rarely see.

Performing his latest single, "Gut Punch," the 33-year-old began at the piano, accompanied by a graceful ballerina, before standing to belt out the raw, self-reflective lyrics.

"Hit me like a gut punch, I hurt my own feelings / How did I get so good at being mean to myself?" he sang, tackling the heavy theme of internal struggle.

The track serves as the lead single for his much-anticipated solo album, Sunday Best, which arrives on Friday.

This project marks his first solo outing since 2021, and it dives deep into his life as a husband to Priyanka Chopra and father to Malti Marie. Jonas admitted that the song was born from deep self-enquiry.

"I tend to be hypercritical of myself, not typically about my appearance or getting older, but I was wondering, 'Am I doing everything to be the best version of myself? Am I a present and thoughtful husband? Am I a good father?'" he shared in a poignant statement.

He reflected on how the "complications of life" can weigh a person down, urging listeners to remember their younger, more carefree selves.

Although the 11-track record was written over the last two years, Nick believes it was "truly 33 years in the making."

By sharing these "candid thoughts" and "snapshots" of his life, Jonas is offering a deeply human connection to his audience, proving that even global stars face the same quiet doubts we all do.
