Michael Strahan pokes fun at his signature tooth gap
The Good Morning America anchor shares a selfie on his Instagram from Smile Design Manhattan
Michael Strahan has poked fun at his signature smile while sharing an update from a recent dentist appointment.
The Good Morning America anchor, 54, took to Instagram this week to post a selfie from Smile Design Manhattan, turning the visit into a moment of self-deprecating humor about the gap between his front teeth — a feature he’s long embraced.
“I know some have tooth jokes so I’ll beat you to it!” Strahan wrote alongside the photo. “There’s a sign on my right tooth with an arrow pointing to my left tooth that says ‘Next Tooth One Mile’ They may not be together but they’re clean!”
The former NFL star has often leaned into jokes about his smile, choosing humor over criticism and staying ahead of the punchline.
His latest post was met with praise from fans who applauded his confidence and willingness to celebrate what makes him distinctive.
In 2021, Strahan briefly sent fans into a frenzy after appearing to suggest he had closed the gap — only to later reveal it was a prank. He reassured followers at the time that his trademark look wasn’t going anywhere.
“I was surprised at how many people were like, ‘No! Don’t get rid of the gap — it’s your signature!’” he said then, adding that he hadn’t realized just how much people associated the feature with his identity.
Strahan joins a growing list of celebrities who have openly embraced their natural teeth rather than opting for cosmetic alterations.
The White Lotus breakout Aimee Lou Wood has previously called skipping veneers “rebellious,” while supermodel Lauren Hutton has long been celebrated for her iconic gap, which she once said she briefly altered early in her career to land magazine covers.
