Savannah Guthrie urges to pay for mother's safe return in abductor plea video
'Today' show anchor Savannah Guthrie has released an urgent video plea on Instagram
Savannah Guthrie has made an urgent plea to someone who may have her mother, saying, "We are willing to pay."
In a recently shared 20-second Instagram video on Saturday, Guthrie stated that her family had received a "message" and earnestly pleaded for the return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 and has been missing since the previous Sunday.
"We have your message, and we comprehend its importance," Guthrie stated while sitting with her two siblings in the video. "We are pleading for you to bring our mother back to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is essential for our peace of mind. We are prepared to provide compensation."
On Friday, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department along with the FBI noted they were aware of a recent message pertaining to Nancy Guthrie.
"The investigators are thoroughly examining the submitted information for its validity," the sheriff's office stated.
A representative for the Pima County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to an inquiry for comment.
There have been mentions of several ransom notes. Federal authorities apprehended a man from California on Thursday, accusing him of sending a counterfeit ransom letter to the Guthrie family.
Officials have not named any suspect but have suggested that the case could involve a kidnapping scenario.
Guthrie's mother was last sighted at her residence near Tucson.
Officials confirmed that blood, verified to be Nancy Guthrie's, was discovered on the porch, and the doorbell security camera was found to be unplugged, removing crucial evidence for investigators.
Her daughter, a journalist with almost 30 years of experience as a news anchor, revealed that her mother's health is "delicate" and she needs her daily medicine.
