Many fans who have experienced Pluribus—Apple TV‘s most successful series — are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the thrilling utopian tale (especially after the dramatic conclusion of Season 1), but creator Vince Gilligan is advising patience regarding the release of Season 2.

During a film and TV slate event for the streamer earlier this week, where panels for Pluribus were featured alongside shows like Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Last Thing He Told Me, the Breaking Bad alum mentioned that he and his team are “diligently working” on the new installment.

During the discussion — led by actor Samba Schutte, who portrays the carefree Diabaté in Pluribus — Gilligan commented, “And I must say, to those who enjoy the show, thank you. Thank you for helping us reach this stage. Crafting these episodes requires a substantial amount of time. We are more advanced in the process than I would prefer given how few episodes we have finalised. But, like the first season, it requires time. We value everyone’s patience. However, it won’t be like The Pitt returning each year. I wish it were possible, as I think that's a remarkable show.”

Gilligan, who also holds roles as executive producer, writer, and director on the Rhea Seehorn-led series, had indicated that the conception of this sci-fi thriller-comedy took about ten years.

Before its massive debut, Pluribus secured an early approval for a second season. Following an alien-induced virus that afflicts humanity with excessive happiness, only a small group of survivors endures.

Among them is the grumpy romantasy writer Carol Sturka, who reluctantly seeks a remedy for the world’s joy.
