Marcos Gonzalez is uncertain if Bad Bunny recognises his internet impersonations, but if the Grammy winner does notice, the comedian wants him to know they stem from admiration.

Gonzalez, whose heritage is Puerto Rican, shares with PEOPLE he was expanding his comedic portfolio when he thought of imitating the "Tití Me Preguntó" artist.

On a particular day, he decided to upload a TikTok imagining Bad Bunny in Stranger Things, an idea he had also used for a Saturday Night Live audition.

After uploading the video, he took a nap, only to awaken to the realization that his video had gone viral with over 800,000 views. Gonzalez initially felt something unusual was happening due to the high number of notifications.

Nevertheless, viewers seemed to enjoy the clip, despite Gonzalez admitting it's not a "perfect impersonation."

"For me, it's all about the vibes. It's just entertaining. I adore Bad Bunny," the 31-year-old tells PEOPLE. "I'm not looking to upset him. It's purely fun. I never intend to say, 'This is an exact voice imitation.'"

"I want to offer something quirky," Gonzalez adds. "The artist has a whimsical side, so it fits well. It's about crafting the character beyond just the public figure."

As a fellow Puerto Rican, Gonzalez stresses that Bad Bunny has "contributed more to our island than anyone else has, and he will keep doing so."

"I am extremely grateful, respectful, and proud of his existence. I think he's incredible," Gonzalez states.

Starting his impersonations in 2025, Gonzalez recalls perfect timing as Bad Bunny was named the halftime performer for Super Bowl LX, boosting the comedian's views in recent months.

"He's maintained that moment for the last half-year. I'm not sure if he's watched them, and I'm a bit hesitant to find out. I don't want to question it," he notes.

Although Gonzalez is unsure if the "Monaco" artist knows him, he experienced a memorable moment with the superstar over the summer.

Gonzalez was "extremely fortunate" to attend Bad Bunny's residency in Puerto Rico,

This isn't Gonzalez's first experience in comedy, having worked with Funny or Die, participated in the Groundlings, and written for the hit TV show Jury Duty and the Saved By the Bell reboot.
