Emma Roberts leads horror film 'A Body In The Woods' by 'Longlegs' producer at EFM

Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) will star in the horror film A Body In The Woods, brought to life by producer Dave Caplan, known for projects like Longlegs and The Monkey.

This film marks the inaugural project for the newly established US sales company Manifest Pictures. 

It is helmed by Yvette Zhuang and Zach Glueck, with pre-sales kicking off at this week's European Film Market in Berlin.

Scream 4 and American Horror Story star Roberts steps into the role of Alice Lincoln, “a turn-of-the-century woman residing in the heart of the Marshall Woods, an area haunted by tales of a sinister witch. 

As Alice remains alone at her secluded cabin, she watches over the body of a mysterious mine worker. Eerie occurrences in the night stir her fears that the dead man might not be entirely at peace. 

The presence of a mute woman at the forest's edge traps Alice in a waking nightmare, balancing the encroaching darkness within against the nameless dread outside her door.”

The “chilling folklore narrative” is penned and set to be directed by Stephen Cognetti, the creator behind the Hell House series. 

Filming is scheduled to begin in September, with Caplan from C2 Motion Picture Group providing the funding.

Last month, we unveiled Manifest as the newest sales enterprise from former Miramax and WME Independent executives Zhuang and Glueck, supported by QC Entertainment and Gramercy Park Media.

Caplan expressed: “Stephen consistently demonstrates his ability to craft spine-chilling, sophisticated horror experiences. With Emma headlining, A Body in the Woods is an irresistible project.”

Apart from this film, Roberts is known for Holidate, Scream Queens, and the box office success, We’re the Millers. She also co-produces the Hulu series Tell Me Lies.
