Charley Crockett defends Bad Bunny, blasts Trump, Musk, and music industry in fiery post
Crockett said the industry should take notes from the Puerto Rican American superstar
As millions of Americans tuned in for the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 8), singer-songwriter Charley Crockett used the moment to voice his support for Bad Bunny’s halftime show — while delivering sharp criticism of political leaders, tech billionaires, and the country music industry.
In a lengthy Instagram post, the Americana and country artist praised Bad Bunny for embracing his cultural roots on one of the world’s biggest stages.
Crockett said the industry should take notes from the Puerto Rican American superstar for honoring his heritage while bringing traditional music to a global audience.
At the same time, Crockett aimed pointed remarks at President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and investor Peter Thiel.
He criticised Trump’s business record and legal history, questioned Musk’s influence in U.S. politics, and accused powerful elites of benefiting from a system that disadvantages working people.
Crockett also drew comparisons between his own past struggles — including losing voting and gun rights over marijuana charges — and what he described as unequal accountability among political leaders.
Crockett’s post referenced Muhammad Ali, labor movements, and economic inequality, arguing that many Americans are encouraged to “hate the oppressed while loving their oppressors.” He warned that such thinking, he said, undermines real freedom and progress.
The musician closed his message with a call to judge leaders by how they treat the poor and powerless, urging fans not to forget the struggles that shaped American history.
Crockett has seen his profile rise in recent years. He signed with Island Records in 2024 and released Lonesome Drifter in March 2025, earning nominations at the Americana Music Awards. He is also set to headline the Music City Rodeo later this year.
