'Marty Supreme' hits historic high as A24’s top grosser, approaches $149m globally
Marty Supreme had overtaken Timothée Chalamet's 'A Complete Unknown'
Marty Supreme has officially become A24's top-grossing film globally this past weekend, amassing $148.8M, surpassing the previous record set by the multi Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, which earned $142.8M worldwide.
Final numbers this afternoon reveal a weekend global total of $6.6M ($5.6M internationally, $1.03M in the US).
The film has been A24’s top performer in North America for some time, with a current total of $92.8M domestically and $56M internationally.
Marty Supreme had earlier overtaken Timothée Chalamet's Oscar-nominated film from last year, A Complete Unknown ($140.5M).
Numerous major markets are still awaiting release, including France, Benelux, Switzerland, and Denmark later this week.
China is set for March 20, with Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Vietnam also debuting in March.
In Australia and New Zealand, the movie directed by Josh Safdie has become A24’s highest-grossing with $5.4M and $690K, respectively.
Among the countries debuting this weekend was Sweden, where it launched in 139 theaters and earned $270K, coming in second place behind a popular local teen film.
In Hungary & Slovakia, the dynamic ping pong player premiered to $143k across 116 screens in both nations.
Last weekend in Chile, the film debuted with $127k on 115 screens, which is 41% more than Killers of the Flower Moon and surpassing the final earnings of A Complete Unknown ($91K).
In Italy, Marty Supreme exceeded both Challengers ($4.7M reported) and A Complete Unknown ($4.2M).
In Iceland, the film continues its dominance with its third consecutive week at the top.
The movie's leading markets include the UK (a stunning $21M), Australia ($5.4M), Italy ($4.8M), Mexico ($3M), Spain ($2.48M), Poland ($1.9M), Brazil ($1.43M), Norway ($1.07M), and Israel ($867K).
A24’s nine-time Oscar nominee Marty Supreme is getting a release in China through China Film Group, with promotional support from Wanda Film.
