Joe Burrow debuts a daring new look at star-studded Fanatics Super Bowl party
The Bengals star admits he is experimenting with his look during the NFL offseason
Joe Burrow is taking full advantage of the NFL offseason to reinvent his image. Stepping onto the red carpet at Michael Rubin’s legendary Fanatics Super Bowl Party in San Francisco on Saturday, the 29-year-old quarterback debuted a look that left social media in a frenzy.
Gone was his signature shaggy blonde flow, replaced by a dark, heavily gelled style that appeared almost black under the party lights.
Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE as he entered the star-studded bash, the Cincinnati Bengals star explained his motivation.
“I'm trying something new today,” Burrow said, frequently raking back the long, stubborn strands that fell over his eyes.
"Despite the mixed reviews already surfacing online, he remained optimistic about his fashion-forward choice, simply adding: “I hope people like it.”
The invite-only affair was a true "who’s who" of sports and entertainment, featuring performances by Cardi B and appearances by legends like Tom Brady and Jay-Z.
While Burrow kept his attire casual in khakis and a black T-shirt, his hair was the undisputed talking point of the evening.
On social media, fans were quick to chime in, with some jokingly asking if the QB was "fighting some demons," while others praised him for his "service" to the fashion world.
This isn't Burrow's first foray into hair experimentation; he previously went viral in January when his long bangs repeatedly interrupted a post-game press conference.
Whether he’s on the field or at an A-list gala, it seems the quarterback is just as focused on his grooming game as he is on his passing stats.
