Influencer Halley Kate is sparking a conversation about modern marriage after revealing she has no intention of walking down the aisle.

The 25-year-old, who got engaged to Reed Williams in January, told her TikTok followers on Tuesday that she is skipping the traditional ceremony entirely.

Despite the expectations of her fans, Halley is firm in her choice, stating: "I just feel like we kind of lost the plot on, like, what a wedding is."

For Halley, the decision is rooted in a lifelong dislike of forced attention and the mounting financial pressures of the bridal industry.

"Why am I pressing play on a song and sitting there, like, prancing down an aisle while I make all my friends and family stare at me?" she questioned.

She also addressed the soaring costs of bachelorette parties and showers, noting that a marriage is "just as valid whether you spend zero dollars on a courthouse wedding or a million dollars on a 500-person wedding."

Instead of "burning" money on a single day, the couple chose to prioritise a stunning marquise diamond ring and future travel.

Halley noted that even with these luxuries, they won't spend a fraction of a traditional wedding’s cost. The couple plans to tie the knot at a courthouse before hosting a small party for loved ones.

"I know that's not traditional," she concluded. "That's just what I want to do for me, because it's my wedding or nonexistent wedding, and I can do whatever I want."
