Andrew McCollum, 42, co-founded Facebook while at Harvard and now leads Philo, a streaming and live TV platform, as its CEO. His day in San Francisco begins around 6 to 7 a.m., when his wife and children wake him. Mornings are spent checking company Slack updates and news headlines, while also helping get the kids ready and preparing breakfast — from pancakes to French toast — though he typically skips eating himself.

He prefers going into the office five days a week, usually taking a Waymo autonomous vehicle, which allows him to catch up on work or even write code during the commute. Meetings dominate his schedule, organized around six- or seven-week cycles, with occasional “no-meeting weeks” reserved for strategy and deeper focus. He emphasizes availability for employees, encouraging them to message or schedule time whenever needed.

Lunch is often skipped unless part of an external meeting, and afternoons remain packed with strategy sessions. McCollum makes time for the gym a few days a week around 4 p.m., aiming to leave the office in time to be home by 6 p.m. for family dinner. Evenings include family time, household organization, reading, crossword puzzles, or watching shows like Taskmaster or The Daily Show.

Weekends aren’t strictly unplugged; he stays available via Slack but prioritizes family adventures and travel. Despite his high-demand role, McCollum strives to balance leadership responsibilities with home life, embodying a modern CEO approach that blends technical involvement, strategic oversight, and active parenting.
