Chris Hemsworth admits he ‘bribe’ daughter to reprise role in 'Avengers: Doomsday'

Chris Hemsworth has revealed he had to “bribe” his teenage daughter to reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday, and the deal reportedly involved a motorbike.

The 42-year-old actor, who has portrayed Thor throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared that it took some lighthearted negotiation to convince his 13-year-old daughter India to return as Love, a character she first played in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder.

Appearing on The View, Hemsworth admitted that filming this time around felt very different. “She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one,” he said, recalling how she arrived on set less than enthusiastic. 

“She walks on set, and she’s like, ‘Ugh, how long is this gonna take?’ I was like, ‘We haven’t even started!’”

According to Hemsworth, India quickly grew impatient. After completing her first take, she asked whether they were finished, only to be told they still had “another two or three days” left to shoot. 

“She’s like, ‘Aww, God,’” he said, describing her “angsty, sort of teenage attitude” as she retreated to her tent between scenes.

The actor clarified that his daughter wasn’t throwing a tantrum, but admitted he ultimately had to sweeten the deal to get her back in front of the camera. 

“She’s like, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?’ And I go, ‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that.’”

Hemsworth explained that when he told her the money would be saved until she turned 18, India pushed back. 

“She goes, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now,’” he recalled, adding that co-director Joe Russo and others were eager to keep the production moving.

The negotiations eventually turned to something closer to her heart. India, who races and rides motorbikes, asked whether her earnings might cover the cost of a bike she had her eye on. “I was like, ‘You possibly could,’” Hemsworth said with a laugh. “So a slight negotiation and off she went.”

He also noted that part of her urgency stemmed from wanting to attend a Billie Eilish concert, though he reassured her they wouldn’t miss it.
