Three British Airways crew members fall ill after eating alleged Marijuana gummies
The airline confirmed the crew members have since recovered, and there was no impact on passengers
Three British Airways cabin crew members became ill after reportedly consuming marijuana gummies allegedly provided by a passenger during a flight from England to Los Angeles, the airline confirmed.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 11, after the flight landed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The gummies were said to contain up to 300 mg of THC, according to reports from The Sun. A British Airways spokesperson told PEOPLE that “a small number of our crew reported feeling unwell at their hotel and have since recovered.”
The airline emphasized that there was “no impact on our customers” and that a replacement crew operated the return flight.
The spokesperson also clarified that there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on the part of the affected crew members.
British Airways regulations strictly prohibit both recreational and medical marijuana on all flights. Federal law similarly bars possession of marijuana in the U.S., even for medical purposes, and passengers carrying it may be referred to law enforcement by the TSA.
The identities of the crew members and the passenger involved have not been made public.
According to The Mirror, the affected staff were flown back to the U.K. a few days later on a separate flight.
