Valve warns Steam Deck OLED may be out of stock due to RAM shortage
Valve has discontinued production of the 256GB LCD Steam Deck
Valve Corporation has confirmed that its Steam Deck OLED will face intermittent stock shortages in certain regions due to ongoing memory and storage supply constraints.
The update was posted on Valve’s official Steam Deck webpage after the popular PC gaming handheld recently went out of stock in the United States and several other markets.
The company clarified that supply limitations tied to RAM and storage components are affecting availability, warning customers that restocks may vary by region.
The supply crunch has also impacted Valve’s broader hardware roadmap. Earlier this month, the company announced delays to several upcoming devices — including the Steam Machine, Steam Frame and Steam Controller — which were initially expected to ship in early 2026.
Valve said it is still working to determine firm pricing and release dates, noting that market conditions around component costs and availability remain unpredictable.
Despite the setback, Valve aims to launch its new hardware lineup in the first half of 2026.
The company said it is moving to finalise its plans as quickly as possible while monitoring supply chain developments.
Meanwhile, Valve has discontinued production of the 256GB LCD Steam Deck, a decision it first revealed late last year as part of its transition toward the OLED model.
