Jennifer Garner and mum Pat return for a nostalgic baking session

The kitchen is once again full of laughter as Jennifer Garner reunites with her mother, Pat, for a nostalgic episode of her Pretend Cooking Show.

In a video shared on Monday, the duo set out to bake Meringue Chews, a vintage recipe from a 1960s community cookbook that Jennifer claims "taste like growing up."

Pat, now 87, shared a crucial cautionary tale about the cookies, which must be left in a closed oven to set properly.

Recalling a past disaster, she warned that opening the door results in a "puddle" rather than a light meringue.

The session was peppered with their signature mother-daughter banter, particularly when Jennifer accidentally broke an egg yolk.

Pat quickly stepped in with a firm reminder: “We have to throw that out and start over. We can’t have any egg in there.” When Jennifer audibly groaned, Pat jokingly offered to take over the cracking duties herself.

The 53-year-old actress kept the mood light, dancing as she whipped up the mixture before folding in pecans and dates.

Despite the minor kitchen mishaps, the final batch was a success. As she sampled the crisp results, Jennifer poignantly noted: “They taste like church, they taste like growing up, they taste like Marge.”

This latest episode adds to a heartwarming collection of family segments, following previous hits featuring "Grandmom Corn" and chicken enchiladas.

It is a sweet reminder that for the Garners, the best recipes are the ones seasoned with decades of shared memories and a bit of playful bickering.
