Shia LaBeouf taken into custody following late-night Mardi Gras incident

Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in New Orleans following an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations and is facing two counts of simple battery, law enforcement sources confirm.

The 39-year-old actor was taken into custody after an incident that occurred shortly after midnight in the city’s French Quarter. 

Authorities say LaBeouf is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon in connection with the charges.

Video obtained by TMZ shows the actor shirtless and receiving medical attention from paramedics after the reported scuffle. It remains unclear what prompted the altercation or whether anyone else was injured.

LaBeouf had reportedly been in New Orleans since Thursday for Mardi Gras festivities. The arrest marks the latest chapter in a series of legal issues that have followed the actor over the years.

In December 2020, musician FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf alleging sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress. The case was settled in July 2025, and LaBeouf denied the allegations.

Previously, in 2017, LaBeouf was arrested in Georgia on charges including public intoxication and disorderly conduct and later completed court-mandated treatment.

LaBeouf shares a daughter with actress Mia Goth, with whom he has had an on-and-off relationship since 2012.

Representatives for LaBeouf did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
