Jelly Roll and wife share exciting baby plans amid fertility challenges
The couple is ready to grow their family after a decade of healing together
Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie Xo, are preparing to expand their family with twins through a surrogate, the couple revealed in Bunnie’s new memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic.
Writing in the book, Bunnie, 46, shared, “Now that we’re finally stable financially and somewhat emotionally after all the healing we’ve done over this decade together, we’re talking about the future, including growing our family. J and I have a surrogate, the sweetest woman ever, and soon I’ll be starting my IVF stims.”
The couple expressed excitement about welcoming children together. Bunnie, whose real name is Alyssa DeFord, said she had waited to have kids with someone she knew would be a great father.
“I’ve waited this long to have kids with someone I knew would be a great father—and to be able to make sure they have the best life,” she wrote.
Acknowledging that some may criticize their decision to have children in their 40s, Bunnie said she isn’t letting the negativity affect her.
“Some people frown upon our decision to bring babies into this world at our age, and I could give a f***. We’re going to raise these babies in love and give them everything we were never given. I can’t wait to see a piece of me and him running around outside of our bodies.”
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, already has two children: daughter Bailee Ann, 17, and son Noah Buddy, nine, from previous relationships. He and Bunnie currently have full custody of Bailee Ann.
Bunnie’s path to parenthood has included challenges. In 2019, she discovered she had blocked fallopian tubes, requiring surgery and eliminating the possibility of conceiving naturally.
She emphasized that advances in IVF, combined with their generous surrogate, will allow them to fulfill their dream of having children together.
“With how much IVF has advanced over the years and with the help of the most unselfish woman willing to carry twins for us, we’ll be able to make our baby dreams come true,” she wrote.
