Margot Robbie has opened up about the self-doubt she experienced after choosing to pursue acting instead of going to university.

The Wuthering Heights star, 35, revealed that her decision to follow her passion for acting left her questioning her intelligence.

“Part of me was like: ‘Oh no, I started acting on Neighbours … I haven't gone to university, and I guess I'm never going to at this point. Am I dumb?’” she admitted during an appearance on the SmartLess podcast.

In an effort to reassure herself, Robbie even asked her sister, who was studying to become an accountant, if she could complete one of her university assignments. “I just needed to check that acting's not making me dumb,” she said.

Despite struggling with numbers, Robbie earned an A-minus and felt a sense of validation. “I’m good. I know I can do it if I need to … It was all about cognitive dissonance or some boring s***,” she joked.

Robbie also shared memories from her early days in London, where she lived with six friends in a four-bedroom apartment and often found herself in trouble at local clubs.

On the Table Manners podcast, she recalled getting kicked out of Infernos nightclub: “While we’re getting dragged out by security, I was screaming, ‘But this is Infernos, you can’t get kicked out of Infernos!’”
