Bebe Rexha has opened up about a spontaneous night out in Tokyo that inspired a track on her upcoming album, Dirty Blonde.

In a candid interview with Page Six Radio, the 36-year-old Grammy-nominated singer recalled making out with a fan during a drunken night at a nightclub in Japan. The encounter later became the inspiration for her new song, “Tokyo.”

“I was in Tokyo the day after Halloween, and I was like, ‘I want to go out,’ because I love Halloween,” Rexha said. “I went to this nightclub, and there was a table below we were right behind the DJ booth.

There was another table with all these guys and these hot girls, and this one Japanese girl came up, and we were dancing, grinding on each other. And then she just starts making out with me.”

Rexha shared that the experience was unforgettable. “We had the best night ever. So I was like, ‘I have to write a song about it,’” she explained. The track includes the lyric, “I kissed a girl in Tokyo.”

Reflecting on the encounter, Rexha admitted she hasn’t stayed in touch with the fan. “Honestly, we all got so shwasted. I don’t even know. She was a fan. I know, is that weird?” she joked.

When asked if she would date a fan in the future, the pop star said, “I don’t want to say no because you never know.”

Rexha recently announced her visual album Dirty Blonde and released its first single, I Like You Better Than Me

She will roll out each track sequentially through independent label EMPIRE.

“This next chapter is about creative freedom trusting my instincts, trusting my voice, and finally doing things the way I’ve always wanted to,” Rexha said in a statement.

“I’ve learned a lot, I’ve lived a lot, and I’m fully tuned into myself now. Following my gut has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career.

"This era is fearless, loud, and unapologetic, no filters, no limits. DIRTY BLONDE is me owning exactly who I am.”
