Kim Kardashian praises North’s creativity despite public criticism over her piercings
North West turned heads in New York City this Valentine’s Day, debuting a bold new look featuring what appeared to be several facial piercings.
The 12-year-old was spotted shopping at Alexander Wang with friends, sporting an electric blue wig and coordinated black attire.
In TikTok videos shared later, North showcased studs on her cheeks and a dermal bridge piercing.
This follows a growing collection of body modifications, including hand and finger piercings first seen in Rome last September, though it remains unclear which are permanent.
Kim Kardashian has faced considerable scrutiny for allowing her daughter to experiment with such modifications at a young age.
Addressing the critics on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kim defended North’s self-expression, stating: “She has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like she just loves what she loves.”
The Skims mogul admitted that parenting in the limelight is a trial-and-error process, adding: “And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also know herself so much.”
While some of North's previous looks, such as her "opium Powerpuff girls" Halloween costume, involved temporary tattoos and fake jewellery, her latest appearance suggests a deepening commitment to her edgy aesthetic.
Kim has asked the public for a "little bit of grace" as she navigates these milestones, previously dismissing the outcry on TikTok by writing: “This is such a non-issue.” For North, the city outing was a masterclass in gothic chic, proving she is firmly in control of her evolving image.
