Disney+ creates senior UK scripted development role amid EMEA expansion

Disney+ has created a senior development position in the UK as the streamer continues to strengthen its EMEA content team.
A recent job listing reveals the company is hiring a Senior Manager, Development, UK Scripted to join the London-based commissioning team behind titles including Rivals and Extraordinary.
The team is overseen by EMEA content chief Angela Jain. A Disney spokesperson confirmed the role is newly created.
According to the listing, the successful candidate will play a “pivotal” role in shaping the future of Disney+’s UK scripted slate.
The position comes at a challenging time for the British production sector. Earlier this week, the Film and TV Charity reported that 74% of UK film and television workers have considered leaving the industry in the past year due to financial pressures.
Since stepping into her role, Jain has reshaped her team, including promoting Lee Mason to VP of Scripted.
The expansion follows comments from John Landgraf, chairman of FX, who said at RTS Cambridge that Disney is seeking to “reposition as much capital as we can outside the US.”
Recent commissions from Disney+ EMEA include Mosquito from Tony McNamara, starring Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and an unscripted series with Alan Carr.
