Sophie Turner admits she and Harington were 'both retching' during movie kiss
Former Game of Thrones co-stars play lovers in 'The Dreadful', struggling with intimate scenes
Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, the former Game of Thrones siblings, struggled to keep it together while filming intimate scenes for their new horror movie, The Dreadful.
In a behind-the-scenes clip shared by Entertainment Tonight, Turner, 29, and Harington, 39, can be seen sharing a kiss in character before jokingly gagging after the director calls “cut!” Laughter from the crew follows as the pair playfully pretends to be sick.
The scene highlights the actors’ playful discomfort, given their long history as onscreen siblings, Sansa and Jon Stark, on HBO’s fantasy drama.
Turner previously told Vogue in July 2025 that it felt “really weird” to play lovers with Harington.
On Late Night with Seth Meyers in August, she revealed that both she and Harington were “retching” during the intimate scenes, joking, “I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot… that’s my brother.’”
Harington also shared his own challenge with the scenes, noting in a November 2025 E! News interview that it was “slightly embarrassing” having to stand on an apple box to reach Turner, who is about a foot taller than him. “But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact,” he quipped.
Turner suggested Harington for the role early in the casting process.
Speaking to The Times in September 2024, she said, “They were trying to find someone for that role, and I was like, ‘You can’t not have Kit.’ It’s set around the time of the Wars of the Roses, so we’ll probably be floating about in robes on clifftops again.
The Game of Thrones cast has remained close since the show concluded in 2019. Harington is married to former co-star Rose Leslie, and the couple shares two children.
The Dreadful, written and directed by Natasha Kermani, also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Jonathan Howard. The Gothic horror drama hits select theaters and digital platforms on Friday, February 20.
