Nicole Snooki opens up about early-stage cervical cancer and upcoming hysterectomy
The 'Jersey Shore' star reveals stage one cervical cancer, emphasizing the importance of early detection
Nicole Snooki Polizzi, the reality TV star best known for Jersey Shore, has revealed she has been diagnosed with stage one cervical cancer and is considering a hysterectomy.
The MTV personality shared the news with her followers on TikTok, urging fans to stay proactive about their health and get regular Pap smears.
“Obviously not the news that I was hoping for. But also not the worst news, just because they caught it so early,” she said.
Snooki explained that she had been dealing with abnormal Pap smears for several years and that early detection has been crucial.
“That’s why I’m literally telling you guys to get your Pap smears done. Cancer’s in there, and it’s only stage I and it’s curable,” she added.
The reality star detailed the medical procedures she has undergone, including a colposcopy and a cone biopsy, which confirmed the cancer had not spread beyond the cervix.
Doctors have scheduled a PET scan to check for signs of cancer elsewhere in her body.
Looking ahead, Snooki is considering a hysterectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the uterus.
“The oncologist said you can either do chemo, radiation or the hysterectomy. Obviously, I think the smart choice here is the hysterectomy,” she said.
She noted that she will retain her ovaries and that lymph nodes may also be removed depending on the PET scan results.
Snooki, who shares three children, Lorenzo, 13, Giovanna, 11, and Angelo, six, with husband Jionni LaValle, expressed optimism despite her diagnosis. “Could be very much worse,” she said, encouraging fans to prioritize their health and get screened regularly.
Cervical cancer is often treatable when detected early, and experts emphasize the importance of routine screenings for early intervention.
