Eric Dane’s girlfriend speaks out after his ALS battle and passing

Janell Shirtcliff, the girlfriend of Eric Dane, has spoken out following his passing.

The Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria actor, 53, died following a brave fight with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Janell, 42, used her Instagram story to post a touching tribute to the late actor, featuring several cherished moments they shared.

The first image she shared showed Eric under the shade of a palm tree, looking down at her with a smile.

Following this was a couple's selfie taken outside near some stairs. In it, Eric could be seen kissing Janell’s forehead.

Other pictures captured Eric in happy moments as he spent time with Janell, as well as his friends and family.

The last memory was a video of Eric with Janell’s daughter, whose name hasn't been disclosed publicly.

In the clip, she tries to direct him while capturing photos.

She instructs: “Look over there at Mom,” and he cheerfully complies.

Upon seeing Janell aiming her phone at both of them, Eric asked: “Are you recording us?”

“It’s adorable,” Janell replied, and they both chuckled.

Eric disclosed he was diagnosed with ALS in April of the previous year. This is a rare and incurable condition leading to increasing muscle deterioration over time.

During his last few months, he relied on a wheelchair and skipped several media events.

Reports say that when Eric passed, he was surrounded by his family, including his daughters Billie and Georgia, and his wife Rebecca Gayheart.

Eric and Rebecca were in the process of divorcing, but Rebecca called off the divorce when she learned about Eric’s ALS diagnosis, and Eric continued his relationship with Janell.

Eric and Rebecca married in 2004 until 2018 when Rebecca initiated divorce proceedings.

Years later, the divorce still hadn’t been finalised, and seven years on, after learning about Eric’s diagnosis, Rebecca revoked the legal papers.
