Adam Sandler has shared that his love of music is alive and well in the next generation of his family.

The 59-year-old actor and musician opened up about his daughters’ growing passion for songwriting while accepting the Founders Award at the 2026 ASCAP Experience in Los Angeles on Feb. 12.

The honour, presented by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, recognized his contributions to music and songwriting over the decades.

“They both jam in the house all day long like I used to,” Sandler said of his daughters Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 17, whom he shares with his wife, Jackie Sandler.

The proud dad revealed that creativity fills their home much like it did during his early years.

“I walked by last night, my one kid’s playing the piano, writing a song,” he shared during his speech. “My other kid’s in New York now. Every time I visit her, all her friends are like, ‘All she does is play guitar all day long.’ ”

Sadie currently attends New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, continuing to explore her artistic interests.

For Sandler, music has always been more than a hobby; it has been a cornerstone of his career.

From his early days on Saturday Night Live, where characters like Opera Man became fan favorites, to beloved originals like The Chanukah Song and “Grow Old with You,” he has seamlessly blended comedy and melody.

“It’s really cool. Music’s the best. It’s always been there for me,” Sandler said.

Over the years, he has released five studio albums between 1993 and 2004, along with four soundtrack albums, most recently for his Netflix comedy special Adam Sandler: Love You in 2024.

During the ceremony, ASCAP president Paul Williams praised Sandler’s lasting influence on comedy music.

“Adam is a giant of comedy, and so many of his most hilarious on-screen moments are based in music and song,” Williams said in a statement, highlighting the actor’s ability to capture “the wonders and absurdities of life and love.”
