Hailee Steinfeld shares how she’s embracing the journey to motherhood

Hailee Steinfeld said she feels increasingly ready for motherhood as she and husband Josh Allen prepare to welcome their first child.

The 29-year-old actress and singer, who announced in December 2025 that she and husband Josh Allen are expecting their first child, shared her thoughts on preparing for the baby in the February 20 issue of her Beau Society newsletter.

“This week, I was sitting on the couch in my family room, and the reality that our little family is about to grow really started to settle in,” Steinfeld wrote. “Of course, I have all the to-do lists (which you know I love), and I’ve been busy with research and the general life reorganisation that happens when you’re about to have a baby.”

Steinfeld highlighted introspection as the most grounding part of her preparation.

“But the most profound and grounding part of getting ready for this baby has been the introspective side of it: the quiet conversations I’m having with myself almost every day,” she explained. 

“Sometimes I find myself asking big, lofty questions (what am I going to be like as a mom?) or having vivid daydreams of what our life is about to look like when the three of us are cuddled up in the nursery together. While tuning in, I’ve experienced this surreal, full-body awareness that our world is about to expand in beautiful ways.”

The actress has also been navigating the joys of nesting. “Unsurprisingly, putting together a nursery has been a joy for me,” she wrote. 

“I’ve gone back and forth on tiny details more than I care to admit (why is choosing a rocking chair this emotional?), but seeing it all slowly come together has made our new life feel more tangible. Emphasis on ‘slowly’ coming together, it’s all still very much a work in progress.”

Steinfeld emphasized the importance of support from family and friends.

“Between helpful texts, voice notes, and the passing ‘you’ll thank me later’ advice, I’m starting to feel more prepared for a newborn,” she shared. 

“Plus, last weekend my mom threw the most beautiful baby shower at our home, which added to the ‘this is really happening’ feeling.”

Steinfeld and Allen, 29, tied the knot in May 2025 at a garden ceremony at the luxurious San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, after getting engaged on a clifftop in Malibu in November 2024.
