The cast of The Last Thing He Told Me has revealed a spirited behind-the-scenes ritual that kept morale high during the filming of season 2, and it revolved around none other than Taylor Swift.

In an exclusive interview qq, Judy Greer and Angourie Rice shared that “Taylor Swift Tuesdays” became a weekly tradition on set while shooting the Apple TV+ thriller, which returned with new episodes on Feb. 20.

With season 2 diving deeper into the tense story of Hannah Hall (Jennifer Garner) and her stepdaughter Bailey (Rice) — as the reemergence of Bailey’s father threatens their fragile stability — the cast leaned on lighthearted traditions to offset the show’s dramatic tone.

“There was a lot of Diet Coke consumed,” Greer joked, before revealing the now-beloved ritual. “We had Taylor Tuesdays, which was on Tuesdays, we wore any Taylor Swift garments to work.”

Rice explained that the idea originated early in production when she and an assistant director named Brooke decided to bring their shared Swift fandom to set.

“She’s a huge Taylor Swift fan,” Rice said. “So on Tuesdays, we would wear our Taylor merch, we’d listen to Taylor in the hair and makeup trailer.”

The tradition quickly expanded beyond outfits. Brooke even began doodling Swift-inspired sketches on Rice’s call sheet each week, turning it into a guessing game.

“She would draw something connected to a Taylor song, and I had to guess it,” Rice said. “It just shows how wonderful and caring the crew is.”

One week’s sketch of the Eiffel Tower referenced Swift’s track “Paris” — a fitting nod given that part of the season was filmed in the French capital.

Greer described the Paris shoot as a highlight of the production, filled with unforgettable off-camera moments.

“We snuck away every day to some bistro for lunch,” she recalled. “I think I ate an omelet three times a day in Paris. That was a dream.”

Jennifer Garner — who stars in the series and serves as an executive producer — also arranged a sunset boat ride along the Seine for the cast and crew.

“It was this beautiful sunset boat ride where we rode all of us together by the Eiffel Tower, looking at all these landmarks like Notre Dame,” Greer said. “It was just incredible to be there and to be shooting this show there with so many people that I know and love. It was a dream.”

A Reunion with History

Season 2 also reunited Greer and Garner, whose on-screen chemistry dates back to their roles as frenemies in 13 Going on 30. Once again, they portray characters at odds — something Greer says has become a running joke between them.

“It’s the best to get paid to hang out with your friend,” Greer said. “It’s funny that we keep playing characters that are at odds with each other. I wonder what it would be like to work with her when we were like the best of friends and really into each other.”

She added that during particularly intense scenes, the pair would deliberately keep their distance to stay in character.

“I would be like, ‘Stay away. You are a stone. You are a ghost. I need to be not around you until we’re done shooting this moment.’”
