Savannah Chrisley's true thoughts on Whoopi & Joy during 'The View' co-host experience
With Alyssa Farah Griffin on maternity leave, Savannah Chrisley filled role of conservative voice on 'The View'
With Alyssa Farah Griffin on a break for maternity leave, Chrisley Knows Best personality Savannah Chrisley filled the conservative seat on The View. The experience didn’t unfold quite as she had anticipated.
“I approached this with certain expectations,” Chrisley shared later on the show’s Behind the Table podcast.
“I assumed Whoopi and Joy would be challenging and just really tough. Turns out, I was mistaken… Yes, I've learned my lesson, and it proves: we shouldn’t make assumptions.”
Generally more left-leaning co-host Joy Behar was not what Chrisley had envisioned.
“Joy and I had a great time when the cameras were off. Honestly, she’s hilarious, and she asked me about my parents. She was like, ‘Why did they end up in jail?’ I replied, ‘Joy, you’re aware. You described them as “tax cheats.”… It’s so amusing. You share something with her, she talks about it, then completely forgets it.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin, once a federal prosecutor, presented a different sort of surprise.
“I'm the sole person at the table with a different viewpoint. I was bracing for some friction. The first day was slightly tense. Sunny and I didn’t argue, but there was a break conversation about my parents, and she said, ‘Weren’t they found guilty by a jury?’ To which I replied, ‘Did you know there were false statements and breaches of the Fourth Amendment, and Brady infringements?’ So, there was some tension there. Given her prosecutor background, I thought, ‘She’s not my favorite.’ But then today, we spoke off camera. She said, ‘I didn’t realise this.’ And I responded, ‘I apologize if I seemed defensive. It's my family, and I'll always stand up for them.'”
