Morgan Riddle opens up about stepping out of her comfort zone this year
Morgan Riddle says she’s excited to attend more sporting events beyond tennis this season
Morgan Riddle is ready to step outside her usual sports routine as the new tennis season approaches.
The content creator, best known for giving fans an inside look at the world of competitive tennis through her relationship with American professional tennis player Taylor Fritz, shared her plans for the year with People in an exclusive interview in partnership with Blacklane.
While Riddle will continue cheering on tennis from the stands, she’s eager to explore other sporting worlds.
"I think I want to try to go to more different types of sporting events," she said.
Riddle, who has been a frequent presence at tennis matches and Formula 1 races over the past two years, recently attended the Kentucky Derby, which she described as an experience she’d never considered before.
"Every time that I go to these different events that are maybe a little bit outside my comfort zone, I always end up meeting really cool people," she added, reflecting on her adventures, which most recently included Super Bowl LX festivities in San Francisco.
Despite her curiosity for new experiences, tennis remains her top priority. Riddle has gained recognition for her viral TikTok video aimed at making "tennis cool again."
In the video, she explained the sport’s annual schedule, how player rankings work, and what it’s like to attend tournaments worldwide.
"I know tennis is relatively uncool and unknown in America," she said in the TikTok, which has amassed over 700,000 likes.
Fritz, who has been a strong supporter of Riddle’s advocacy, defended her against critics who claimed she was capitalizing on his career.
"I think what she did was awesome for our sport. It got a ton of people looking at it. I think you get your typical older fan who may be upset about it. I don't understand how anyone can get upset about it," he said.
"I'm the one that's a professional tennis player, I'm the one that does this for a living. I 100 percent agree with everything in that video," Fritz added during a press conference at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters tournament.
