A teenage singer who once competed on The Voice Kids has tragically died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in western Colombia.

Nicole Valeria Vargas Gomez, 19, lost her life in a devastating crash in Quindío. The young performer, who appeared on the Colombian version of the hit talent show in 2019, was crossing the road with William Andres Paipa, 40, when an unidentified vehicle reportedly sped toward them.

Authorities said the car appeared to come “out of nowhere” before slamming into the pair on the Circasia–Armenia road.

The force of the collision threw both victims into the air and onto the opposite side of the roadway, police confirmed.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the impact. An investigation is now underway as officers work to identify and locate the person responsible.

Nicole was a Business Administration student at the University of Quindío, where she was remembered not only for her academic dedication but also for her passion for the arts.

In a heartfelt statement, the university described her as a committed student who left a lasting impression both in the classroom and on stage.

Officials added that Nicole carried the institution’s name with pride during every performance and cultural event she participated in.

The university community has since expressed profound sorrow, offering prayers and support to her family and loved ones during this deeply painful time.
