Hilary Duff has honored her “Lizzie McGuire” fellow actor Robert Carradine after he passed away at 71 years old.

“This is a painful one. It’s hard to accept this truth about an old friend,” she wrote on Instagram.

“The McGuire family was incredibly warm, and I always felt cherished by my TV parents.

“I’ll always be thankful for that. I’m truly saddened to hear Bobby was in pain. My heart aches for him, his loved ones, and all who cared about him.”

Carradine portrayed Duff’s father, Sam, in the popular Disney Channel series, appearing in 65 episodes from 2001 to 2004, as per his IMDb. He also reprised the role in the 2003 film “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.”

Jake Thomas, who played Duff’s brother on the show, described Carradine as “one of the nicest guys you could meet.”

“Humorous, sensible, sometimes cranky, and always a bit quirky,” he mentioned on Instagram.

“He was skilled as an actor, musician, and director. But more than all that, he was family.”

Carradine ended his life after dealing with Bipolar Disorder, his family explained to Deadline.

“With deep sadness, we share that our cherished father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, Robert Carradine, has left us,” they mentioned.

“In a world sometimes so dark, Bobby was always a source of light to those around him.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of this wonderful soul and wish to honor Bobby’s brave fight with his nearly two-decade-long battle with Bipolar Disorder.”

Carradine’s brother, Keith, stated his sibling’s battle with Bipolar Disorder eventually “overcame him” before offering a personal homage.

“It’s a condition that got the better of him, and I want to commend him for his battle with it and celebrate his amazing spirit,” he shared. “He was incredibly talented, and we will miss him every day.”

Carradine revealed he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after the passing of his brother and fellow actor, David. David was discovered deceased in a Bangkok hotel room in 2009.

Carradine was primarily recognized for his parts in the 1980 war film “The Big Red One,” the 1984 movie “Revenge of the Nerds,” and the 1996 film “Escape from L.A.”
