‘Opalite’ tops Billboard Hot 100, giving Taylor Swift two no. 1 hits from same album
The 'Blank Space' hitmaker credits her fans for helping her reach this long-awaited chart milestone
Taylor Swift is marking a major milestone in her career, and she’s making sure her fans know they’re the reason behind it.
The 36-year-old pop superstar has earned two No. 1 hits from the same album for the first time in nearly 12 years, thanks to Opalite, the second single from her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The track climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week, giving Swift her first pair of chart-toppers from a single project since 2014’s 1989.
Sharing her excitement on Instagram on Feb. 23, Swift reflected on the achievement and the long road between chart milestones.
“To put this into perspective… This is actually the first time I’ve had two Hot 100 #1s off of one album since my album 1989 came out in 2014, nearly twelve years ago!” she wrote. “I know that’s a lot of numbers but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen.”
Swift admitted she was “seriously bouncing off the walls” over the news, joking that she might celebrate with a “giant pretzel at the mall.”
Alongside her celebratory message, Swift shared intimate behind-the-scenes moments from the making of Opalite.
One clip shows the singer makeup-free in the studio, working closely with longtime collaborator Max Martin. Other footage captures her on set in an ’80s-inspired look, complete with a brown wig and bold styling.
“Never in my life have I felt so myself,” Swift says in one video from the shoot. “This is actually who I was meant to be.”
Additional snippets reveal Swift recording vocals and celebrating with producers Max Martin and Shellback, who also contributed to the album.
The Opalite music video, which premiered earlier this month, quickly became a talking point thanks to its high-profile cameos.
Among the featured appearances are Domhnall Gleeson, Graham Norton, Lewis Capaldi, Greta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smith, with a surprise cameo from Cillian Murphy.
Swift previously revealed that the concept for the video came together while she appeared on The Graham Norton Show alongside several of the eventual stars on the same day her album dropped in October 2025.
