Elsie Hewitt has described her pregnancy as an overwhelmingly difficult experience, citing discomfort, pain, and emotional strain.

The 29-year-old model and partner Pete Davidson welcomed their daughter Scottie in December, but Hewitt revealed that carrying her baby was far from easy.

In a candid essay for Elle magazine, Hewitt wrote, “For the most part, I hated being pregnant. I was deeply uncomfortable. I was constantly sick, exhausted, and in pain.”

After years of struggling with stage 4 endometriosis, she chose a medicalized, clinical approach under an OB-GYN rather than a midwife, prioritizing her health and safety over personal preference.

Hewitt also spoke about the challenges of balancing her career with pregnancy. “I work in an industry where my body has largely been my livelihood… I had been looking forward to a stretch of my life where my body felt like mine again,” she wrote.

The pregnancy, which she confirmed was unplanned, disrupted that expectation, compounding her struggles.

She further reflected on her decision not to breastfeed Scottie, acknowledging the guilt she felt while reaffirming that formula feeding was the healthiest choice for her and her daughter.

“Being mentally and emotionally okay is not separate from being a good mother,” Hewitt said. Her essay underscores the complexities of modern motherhood, especially for women navigating health challenges and personal autonomy.
