Why your child’s workout is actually a secret life lesson
Physical training helps children learn to navigate discomfort in a safe environment
Fitness expert Raj Ganpath, who has nearly two decades of experience, is encouraging parents to view exercise as more than just a physical necessity.
In a moving video shared on Friday the founder of the Slow Burn Method explains that sport and training serve as a "simulation of life itself," preparing children for the realities of the world through character-building challenges.
Embracing discomfort
In an age where children are often shielded from unease, Ganpath argues that physical exertion teaches them how to "sit with discomfort" safely.
Whether holding a plank or finishing a cardio set, these moments build mental toughness.
He explains, “Exercise is a great way to experience this discomfort in a safe and sustainable manner. Lifting weights, holding a plank, doing cardio, repping till it burns, all of these things are opportunities to embrace discomfort.”
Learning hardship
Success rarely comes without struggle, and exercise bridges the gap between effort and achievement.
Ganpath notes, “It will teach them that they need to do hard things if they want to accomplish something.” Completing a punishing workout fosters the fortitude required for adulthood.
Delayed gratification
In our world of instant digital rewards, the gym offers a vital lesson in patience. Ganpath shares, “Exercise will teach them to wait, to be patient, to trust the process, to fail and still keep going, to work towards something larger that they will get much later.”
By prioritising long-term gains over immediate taps on a screen, children develop the resilience needed for a meaningful future.
