Kathryn Hahn and Connor Storrie brought some unexpected comedy to the 32nd annual Actor Awards on Sunday, after stepping in as last-minute replacements.

Opening the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium, the duo made a cheeky "confession" to the audience before handing out the first prize of the night.

It turns out Hahn wasn’t originally on the bill at all; she was filling in for Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang, who found himself quite literally at the edge of the earth.

“First of all, I wasn’t even supposed to be presenting this award,” Hahn explained to the star-studded crowd. “Right now, I am Bowen Yang. Because he is casually stuck in Antarctica.”

To prove she wasn’t joking, Storrie pointed to a selfie on the big screen behind them showing Yang stranded in the icy wilderness. “Yeah, no, that’s for real,” Hahn added.

Storrie even poked fun at Yang’s famous SNL history, asking the room: “Yeah. Do y’all remember when he played an actual iceberg on SNL?”

Despite the icy mishap, the pair successfully presented the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series to Keri Russell.

For Storrie, it was a whirlwind 24 hours, having just made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live the previous evening. Hahn, meanwhile, was also celebrating her own nominations for her work in The Studio.

It was a charming, chaotic start to the Netflix-streamed event, proving that even in Hollywood, you can't always predict the weather.
