Three-time DWTS finalist Val Chmerkovskiy rushed to hospital during tour
DWTS confirms Val is under medical care and wishes him a speedy recovery
Val Chmerkovskiy was rushed to the hospital on Sunday during the Dancing With The Stars live tour, forcing him to miss a performance in Peoria, Illinois.
The 39-year-old professional dancer was scheduled to take the stage at the Prairie Home Alliance Theater but pulled out after experiencing severe vertigo.
He shared an update with fans on Instagram, describing the health scare as a "small hiccup."
“What's up friends. So yeah, my bad,” Chmerkovskiy said in a video. “I've just been having vertigo for the past couple of days… I was able to get through yesterday's show, but this morning on the bus, I just woke up and couldn't get myself together.”
He explained that the issue stems from a dislodged inner-ear crystal affecting his equilibrium. “Once it goes out, it's really hard to get it back in,” he said.
“It takes literally me not being able to stand on my feet to keep me off that stage. Unfortunately, I just couldn't make it tonight.”
Chmerkovskiy expressed gratitude toward his tour colleagues and fans: “Shout out to Claire, our physical therapist, and everyone on our tour for rallying.
My apologies to all the fans that came out to see us today in Peoria. Little bump in the road. I’ll be good to go ASAP.”
The official Dancing With The Stars social media account confirmed the update, writing, “Unfortunately, due to an unforeseen and last-minute illness, Val will not be able to perform in today's show. He is under medical care, and we are wishing him a fast and speedy recovery.”
