Teyana Taylor brings daughter Rue as date, shares sweet red carpet moment
The actress dazzled in a sequined Thom Browne design adorned with hundreds of thousands of beads
Teyana Taylor made a glamorous entrance at the 2026 Actor Awards — but it was her daughter who stole the spotlight.
The One Battle After Another star, 35, arrived at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 1, accompanied by her 5-year-old daughter, Rue Rose Shumpert, in a heartwarming mother-daughter appearance that quickly became one of the night’s standout moments.
Taylor wore a form-fitting gray and white Thom Browne gown featuring an anatomical corset-style torso crafted from more than 160 pattern pieces.
The dramatic skirt shimmered with approximately 400,000 sequins and 175,000 beads, complete with a small train that added extra elegance to the ensemble.
She accessorized with dazzling Tiffany & Co. diamonds, including a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. necklace, earrings and ring, along with a Bird on a Rock ring.
Still, her most memorable accessory was Rue.
In an adorable scene in front of photographers, Rue carefully adjusted and spread out her mother’s train before taking her hand to walk the carpet together.
The young style star wore a knee-length pink skirt paired with a blue-and-white cardigan, posing confidently beside her mom.
Rue is Taylor’s daughter with ex-husband Iman Shumpert. Taylor is also mother to 10-year-old Iman “Junie” Shumpert Jr.
Taylor is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her work in One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film is also up for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Hosted by Kristin Bell, this year’s Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, introduced a themed dress code for the first time in its 31-year history, with “Reimagining Hollywood Glamour from the ’20s and ’30s” setting the tone for the evening.
Taylor’s awards-season momentum has been building. In January, she won Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes for the same role and has also earned her first Oscar nomination this year.
Despite the accolades, Taylor recently shared that she’s staying grounded. “I’m not thinking about my speech,” she said in a prior interview.
“I’m pacing myself. I don’t want to jinx anything. Honestly, I’m having just a good time.”
