Dave Franco shares fond memories of Catherine O’Hara during Apple TV+ series shoot
The actor says he feels fortunate to have spent time with the late 'Home Alone' star
Dave Franco has reflected on his time with late actress Catherine O’Hara, describing her as “so sweet” and “so humble.”
The actor, who stars as a fictionalized version of himself in the Apple TV+ series The Studio, shared memories of working alongside O’Hara, who passed away in January at age 71, playing a former studio boss.
Seth Rogen also stars in the series as the head of the fictional studio.
During an appearance on the UK morning show This Morning, Franco said, “Yeah, I got to spend a little bit of time with Catherine and, you know, she really was so sweet and so humble. I remember she talked to me a lot about her sons who work in this business too and she was just saying how proud she was of them.”
He added, “She just kind of had this energy where she would go into a room and everyone would just perk up. I just feel fortunate to have been able to spend that time with her.”
Franco also reflected on his broader acting career, sharing excitement about being cast alongside another legend, Meryl Streep, in the animated film Hoppers.
However, he admitted he never got to meet her in person, as their studio sessions were always separate.
In a lighter moment, Franco discussed his love for cats after being named People magazine’s Sexiest Cat Dad of 2025. He joked, “That’s the peak [of my career]. It’s all downhill from here.”
He emphasized his mission to change the perception of cats, noting, “In popular culture, cats have gotten a bad rap, like in all animation, cats are always the villain.
I’m like, ‘No.’ Did you guys see this movie Flow that came out last year? It won Best Animated Picture at the Oscars, and the reason it did was because it finally told the truth—the cat was the hero. It’s my mission!”
