A horrific discovery has shaken the Cleveland community after the bodies of two young girls were found hidden inside suitcases in a local park.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Police Chief Dorothy Todd explained that a dog walker alerted authorities at around 6 pm the previous evening.

The suitcases were located in shallow graves within a field near a school in the East 162 and Midland area.

The victims have been identified as two Black females of school age. One is estimated to be between 8 and 13 years old, while the other is thought to be between 10 and 14.

Chief Todd clarified that the bodies were not dismembered, though she admitted, "At this time, there are no clear indicators of the cause of death of the two young females."

Investigators believe the remains had been at the site for some time, rather than being a recent occurrence.

Currently, the victims remain unidentified, and they have not been linked to any active missing person cases. No suspects have been named, and the police are urgently appealing for witnesses.

"This is a priority," said Todd. "This is a traumatic event for our officers, for the community, and this is just such a tragic incident, but we are trying to develop any leads we can. That's why we're also asking for the community's help."

A 24-hour tip line has been established as the medical examiner works to determine how these two young lives were tragically cut short.
