Upgrade your ingredients with this five-minute sugar-free dessert
Learn how to satisfy sweet cravings without ruining your fitness progress
Sticking to a healthy diet is often a battle of willpower, particularly for those of us with a stubborn sweet tooth. Although a balanced meal plan helps manage hunger, cravings rarely vanish entirely.
Fitness coach Prakhar Shrivastava recently shared a clever solution on Instagram, proving that weight loss needn't mean misery. He has developed a low-calorie fruit custard that bypasses traditional custard powder and refined sugar.
The secret lies in the base, which swaps processed thickeners for nutrient-dense makhana (fox nuts). Each bowl contains roughly 200 to 230 calories, providing a helpful protein boost of seven to nine grams.
As Prakhar explains, “Sometimes fat loss isn’t about removing sweets. It’s about controlling portions and upgrading ingredients.” This approach allows for a guilt-free indulgence that fits within a daily calorie budget.
Ingredients for sugar-free fruit custard
- ¼ cup makhana
- 1 tbsp crushed dry fruits
- A pinch of saffron
- ¾ cup low-fat milk
- ½ tsp honey (optional)
- Chopped fruits: apple, kiwi, pomegranate, banana, and black grapes
Method of preparation
To make the base, soak the makhana, dry fruits, and saffron in the milk until soft, then blend into a smooth puree with the honey.
Simply pour this creamy mixture over your chopped fruit and leave it to chill in the fridge for 20 minutes. It is a refreshing, fibre-rich alternative to processed puddings that takes less than ten minutes to prepare.
By upgrading the ingredients, you can enjoy a decadent dessert that actually supports your fitness goals.
