Cillian Murphy denies role in 'Harry Potter' series, discusses '28 Years Later'
Cillian Murphy addresses the future of the '28 Years Later' franchise
Cillian Murphy sets the record straight on the 28 Years Later series and dispels gossip about him joining the Harry Potter shows on HBO.
The Peaky Blinders star has returned as Jim in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, with a new film already underway.
“Fingers crossed!” Murphy shared with The Times about the possibility of another movie, stating, “I’m all set if they need me.”
Despite speculation linking Murphy to the role of Voldemort in the TV version of the beloved fantasy saga, he clarified, “I’m definitely not involved.”
The actor commented on his surprise regarding the casting rumors, explaining, “Being a celebrity isn’t my forte. Navigating this industry? Discussing my personal life, attending glitzy events? It’s unhealthy if you let it get to your head, and I’m terrible at handling it. I’m just a regular guy, to be honest.”
The Harry Potter TV adaptation already has its stars: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stour as Ron.
Additional cast members include Paapa Essiedu portraying Snape, the potions master, John Lithgow as the head of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
Succession team Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod helm the writing and direction.
Gardiner takes on the role of showrunner and executive producer, with Mylod directing several episodes and also serving as executive producer.
