BAFTA’s inclusion panel is gathering today for the first time since the organisation faced issues over the use of a racial slur at last month's film awards.

The Learning, Inclusion and Talent Committee will convene on Wednesday, and two insiders mentioned that BAFTA’s response to John Davidson’s unintentional racial comments is on the agenda for discussion.

Individuals close to the matter have noted unease among committee members regarding the incidents on February 22, when Tourette’s advocate Davidson shouted the N-word at Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo.

Their Sinners co-star Wunmi Mosaku was also a target of the slur when receiving her Supporting Actress award.

There is worry that the inclusion committee, along with BAFTA’s disability advisory panel, were bypassed in providing guidance on best practices for Davidson’s presence.

There's a sentiment that the incident hasn’t showcased the committees' effectiveness at BAFTA.

One member referred to the incident as a “chaotic situation,” while another predicted high emotions during the upcoming inclusion committee meeting.

Led by Ade Rawcliffe, ITV’s chief HR officer, BAFTA’s inclusion committee comprises industry figures.

The disability advisory group operates as a sub-committee under the Learning, Inclusion and Talent Committee. It’s led by Sam Tatlow, ITV’s head of diversity.

BAFTA has expressed regret over the occurrences at the film awards and is in the process of reviewing the situation.

There is some concern that Davidson lacked necessary support that evening; however, the organisation did employ an access producer, access coordinator, and a wellbeing advisor.

Davidson, who voluntarily left the venue after his disruptions, also received further assistance from StudioCanal.
