Michelle Williams reveals 'deathly' food poisoning ordeal from radiator nuggets
Michelle Williams fell dangerously ill after eating nuggets left out for nine hours
Michelle Williams has opened up about a harrowing health scare that almost turned her Broadway role into a grim reality. Appearing on the Tuesday episode of Sherri, the 46-year-old star revealed she suffered life-threatening food poisoning earlier this year.
The culprit was a box of chicken nuggets she had left sitting on a microwave—which happened to be perched atop a warm radiator—for nine hours during a busy two-show day.
The former Destiny’s Child singer admitted she felt "blessed to be alive" after the ordeal, joking that the host almost had to air an "in-memorial segment" for her.
Williams, who currently stars in the Broadway musical Death Becomes Her, explained that she ate the bacteria-ridden snacks after a performance to avoid waste. "About four hours later, my life changed forever.
It was bad," she recalled. The experience left her so traumatised that she hadn't touched a nugget since, at least until host Sherri Shepherd stepped in with a silver platter of "natural warm" replacements.
Despite the "sting" of missing out on an individual Tony nomination for her portrayal of Viola Van Horn, Williams remains resilient.
Her return to the stage follows a difficult exit from Once on This Island in 2018 due to mental health struggles.
Proving she is no liability, the actress took a brave bite of a fresh nugget on camera, declaring, "Oh, these are good!" as she continues her triumphant, healthy return to the New York spotlight.
