Nicole Kidman has taken her craft to a visceral new level for her latest role. During an appearance on The Tonight Show on Monday, the 58-year-old Oscar winner revealed she is now capable of performing an autopsy.

Prepping for her role as forensic pathologist Dr Kay Scarpetta in the upcoming Prime series Scarpetta, Kidman immersed herself in the grisly world of forensic medicine.

"I can remove all the organs," she told a stunned Jimmy Fallon. "I can name them all." Confirming she is a method actress, Kidman explained she became a quick study by observing a professional medical examiner.

She even teased Fallon by claiming he had invited her to perform a live autopsy on his show, a suggestion the host jokingly denied.

The thriller, adapted from Patricia Cornwell’s novels, follows a medical examiner returning to her career after three decades, weaving together crimes from the past and present alongside intense family drama.

This professional milestone comes at a significant time in Kidman's personal life, following her January divorce from Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage.

The pair, who share two daughters, reportedly finalised the split by waiving child and spousal support, with Kidman retaining primary custody.

Despite the personal upheaval, Kidman remains a powerhouse in Hollywood. As Fallon remarked, the star is "the best at every single thing."

Alongside a star-studded cast including Jamie Lee Curtis and Ariana DeBose, Kidman’s commitment to her role ensures Scarpetta will be as authentic as it is chilling.
