Artificial intelligence pioneer OpenAI has reached a staggering financial milestone, with annualised revenue surpassing $25 billion as of late last month.

According to a report from The Information, this represents a sharp 17% increase from the $21.4 billion recorded at the end of last year.

This rapid fiscal ascent follows a transformative 2025, where the company climbed from zero revenue to over $20 billion in a single year.

To sustain this momentum, the ChatGPT creator is aggressively targeting the enterprise market through strategic partnerships with four of the world’s premier consulting firms.

This shift aims to move beyond pilot programmes toward full-scale AI deployment. Despite facing stiff competition from rivals like Anthropic, which currently boasts around $9 billion in annualised revenue, OpenAI is looking toward a massive expansion.

The firm is reportedly eyeing $600 billion in total spending through 2030, potentially setting the stage for a $1 trillion stock market debut.

Beyond commercial ventures, the company is deepening its ties with the public sector. OpenAI recently confirmed a new agreement with the Department of War to deploy advanced systems within classified environments.

On Saturday, the firm stated that the deal was struck with the Pentagon to "deploy technology across the department while protecting its sensitive use cases."

By balancing high-stakes government contracts with corporate expansion, OpenAI appears to be cementing its role as the dominant force in the global tech landscape, all while navigating the complex ethical boundaries of military-grade artificial intelligence.
