A 24-year-old Florida man is in custody after a terrifying road rage incident in Miami, during which he allegedly opened fire on a fellow motorist during heavy Saturday traffic.

Raul Alejandro Fontaine faces several charges, including second-degree attempted murder and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

The confrontation began on SW 88th Street when Fontaine reportedly drove his Jeep Gladiator onto the sidewalk to confront the victim.

According to police records, Fontaine ordered the man to exit his vehicle, shouting: "You don't know who I am. Get out of the car. I'll beat your a—." Although the victim initially managed to drive away, Fontaine allegedly pursued him, pulled alongside the driver-side window, and threatened: "I'm going to f—ing shoot you." A single shot was fired, narrowly missing the driver and striking a nearby wall.

Displaying remarkable composure, the victim retrieved the spent bullet from the road and used his mobile phone to record Fontaine’s number plate before alerting the authorities.

"The act was imminently dangerous to the victim and demonstrated a depraved mind without regard for any human life," the affidavit stated.

Fontaine was later apprehended near his residence and reportedly admitted to firing the shot, claiming it was an attempt to scare the other driver.

He is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. This shocking display of highway violence underscores the escalating dangers of road rage in urban areas.
