Google is significantly enhancing its artificial intelligence suite by introducing advanced markup tools for images created directly on the Gemini platform.

This update aims to give users granular control over AI-generated visuals, moving beyond simple text prompts to a more tactile editing experience.

Central to this upgrade is a new "pencil icon" located in the top-right corner of the interface, which serves as a gateway to a dedicated markup screen.

When a user generates an image via the Nano Banana model, they can now highlight specific sections of the graphic for modification.

The system then reattaches the annotated image to the input box, allowing for precise text instructions.

This integrated loop provides the AI with superior contextual data, resulting in more accurate edits with far less trial and error for the user.

Historically, such tools were only available for uploaded files, making this a major "quality-of-life improvement" for native platform generation.

Although Google has internally enabled these tools in the app version v17.8.59, the feature is not yet available to the general public.

A wider rollout is expected in the coming months, promising to streamline the creative process for artists and designers.

By bridging the gap between automated generation and manual oversight, Google is positioning Gemini as a more professional-grade tool for digital content creation.

The move reflects a broader industry trend towards "human-in-the-loop" AI, where software handles the heavy lifting while creators maintain the final aesthetic say.
